MUMBAI ALOO

Silken sari soaking
Cooling in the Ganges
Dreaming of Mumbai Aloo
Musical voices calling
As recipes traded
In this, the women’s watery time
I think of my pot
Bubbling on the hot coals
Filled with aloo, fine potatoes
Caressed by tomatoes
Hard shells of garbanzos
Softening in the heat
Cayenne and cardamon
Cumin and ginger
And rich turmeric
Colorful yellow healer
Did I chunk the onions?
Oh, yes
Bubbling in the heat
As I drift in the sweet
Water of the Ganges
Wrapped in a silken sari…

      1. Well, good of you to ask 🙂 I didn’t really have a lot of ingredients or spices. BUT I used junks of onion (Which I love), potatoe (Junks unpealed) and tomatoe. I had to use chicken cubes (Knorr) for the broth. I peppered it well (I love pepper), used chilli powder (lol) along with some other spices (Just because) and lightly dusted with (Wait for it!) hot pepperflakes.) It was simple and I enjoyed it immensely. As I live alone theirs no one else to please and that’s just fine! 😊🌻 afterthought: A little soya Hmm

      2. Sounds yummy! I use pepper flakes a lot. I see you have an auto correct problem as I do. Junks for chunks LOL! That’s not bad. I have forgotten to check and been embarrassed by my posts so no problem. Auto correct makes us a bit humble. 😀

  2. Thanks, Steve! I should mention that the Roma (Gypsies) are from India. Linguists tied in the Romanes language to Sanskrit, so I don’t feel like I’m stereotyping about a silken sari and if that was me in reality, I’d be drifting along 🙂
