HAIKU STACK (EMPIRICAL)

We talk to Nature
She always explains herself
In a voice like ours

How do we know, though
That voices of trees and clouds
Are not in our mind

That is when we need
The company of humans
To say yay or nay..

Familiar voices
In their own unique timbre
Empirical proof

Trees, animals, waves
Even wind-caressed grasses
A way to recharge

But don’t lock us down
Because even introverts
Will crave human touch…

SWEETER THAN WINE (DREAM FRAGMENT)

*scroll down for a YouTube video

Wine red guitar
High gloss with G Clef
Etched into its buffed body
How my hands dream to hold you
So I wouldn’t feel lonely…

But you’re ivy league to my state college
White starched collar to my soft blue
Yet somehow I knew
We could make magical music together
If only…

HAPPY 5TH BIRTHDAY, ROCKSTAR <3

Traded in the family bike
For a handful of magic beans
Told it would grow into
A source of unconditional love
Wrapped In other-species intelligence
And just by touching this incredible bloom
Happiness would be mine for infinite hours
So hurricane rains
Cooled the solar beams
While rainbows bathed it
With seven colorful properties
And it grew and it grew
Until the blossom peeped through
And it was all
And more
As promised…

LEPUS (HARE)

(WHETHER WE CELEBRATE OSTARA, EASTER, PASSOVER, RAMADAN OR ANY SPIRITUAL HOLIDAY, WE ALL WANT ONE THING THIS YEAR: GOOD HEALTH! HERE’S TO REGAINING OUR CENTER ❤ )

Red starry show
Orion struggling in a sea of blood?
No! Just the red glow of
Hind’s Crimson Star
Alpha Leporis
Fourteen times the mass of sun
Drawing all eyes to
Constellation Lepus
Rabbit
Hare
Easy to see
The mythology
Of Orion’s dogs
Canis Major and Minor
Pursuing this incandescent body
But thanks to Ostara
Goddess of Spring
She is granted swiftness
And once a year
Will appear
On the Moon
After traveling 1,300 light years
Syncretizing Eastern myths
With Western ones
Bringing eggs to the
Moon Rabbit who is
Fiercely pounding
A lunar mortar by pestle
Grinding out the Elixir of Life
An Asian Philosopher’s Stone for
Immortality
Mystically produced
By the mating of the
Hare and Rabbit
For is not reproduction
A form of immortality?

Looking Glass by Clarissa Simmens

The BeZine

BEFORE

Morning mirror ritual
Stumbling toward the glass
Tumbling down like drowning
But seems there is no change
Rubbed my head
Not a bit dead
Just confused
Everything the same
But not
Text appeared
Pandemic declared
And the cosmos of my old age
Shifted while I slid
Into a new world
Of fear and suspicion
And the madness set in
As one rarely leaving the safety
Of my backyard
Me, maniac
Lunatic looking
For precious paper products
Now both a hunter and gatherer
Worthy of time immemorial’s
Gender-biased survival tasks
As I stride through empty aisles
In dawn’s early stores
Each worker I ask
Where is this?
Do you have that?
Moving back
As they politely invade my space
Trying not to glance
At my black winter gloves
And peace scarf doubling
As a germ-prevention mask
And I ask
Where is the toilet paper?
Where are the eggs?
My shopping…
