SEVEN SISTERS–THE PLEIADES

I have seven sisters

Who comfort me

When life refuses to agree

And grant a desire for peace

Daughters of the Titan Atlas

Forced to hold up the Earth

On his bold shoulders

And the sea nymph Pleione

I gaze at the sky

And before waving goodbye

As they disappear into the dawn

I thank them for listening

To my sadness, tears glistening

Helping me to face another day

Here they are, alphabetically:

<><><><><>

Alcyone

Beloved dogs trailing

Her starprints

Celaeno

Creating beauty in the

Midnight sky’s puzzles

Electra

Poetic voice one day to be

Heard beneath the firmament

Maia

Mighty maternal magnet

Of family and friends

Merope

Bringer of friendship to all

Who follow her words

Sterope

Healing the ancient way

Under the Eastern star

Taygete

Melder of myth and history,

Food and folded paper

Thank you, my dear friends…

(saw this the other night in the Southern sky and it looked like a crown with a central jewel)

(A TRIBUTE TO SOME OF MY FRIENDS BUT THERE ARE MORE THAN 7 THAT I APPRECIATE SO THANK YOU TOO…poets have to make things fit 😊 )
