DARK PHASE

Dark of the Moon

Empty space hidden behind

Intricate cobwebs of clouds

A borderland of energies

I give the moon my prize ornaments

And I think of you

As rain showers

Soften the darkness

Promising the New Moon

Dawn’s sun to light tomorrow’s night…

PRIMEVAL PUZZLE 8-21-17

(Full Solar Eclipse 8-21-17)

Although no Rhesus monkey blood

Flows through the byways of my body

I feel fragments of fear

Originating from ancient landscapes

Of fern and endless flora

And I am there

Looking for the hidden animals

Absent from the water hole

Watching my tribe

Grunting over skins stretched tautly

Being beaten over enormous gourds

A chant arising

From useless fire

Reaching for the circle of what is now known

As the sun

While a shadow claims dominance

Wiping out daytime firmament

Bringing dusk to the home savanna

Behemoth swallowing the familiar fireball

Leaving us shivering on the ground

Grunting, crying, drumming

Scrying the water

For instruction on how to retrieve

Our celestial canopy

Bright and hot

We rock back and forth

In darkness unexplained

Crying in pain

Until the Feathered One

Points to the sky

With a club as high as he

We will not die!

The monster shadow is vanquished

By our chants

Our spilling of blood

Our promises to be good

And the raging fire

Once again

Rules the bright blue plain

Stretching silently above

A sea of heads

I was there

I remember

As today

Wearing a #12 Shade welding mask

I watch

The eclipse fade…

FOR THE TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE (AUGUST 21, 2017)

Week of dress rehearsals

On the cosmic stage

Meteors lighting up

Countless trails blazed

Planets whirling backwards

Magnetic storms arrive

Constellations stretch their legs

Stars come alive

Wandering down aisles of life

Seeking answers for my heart

Searching for the perfect soul

Existence needs a fresh start

Ah, the Moon, overshadowing the Sun

Interfering with the brightness of Earth

Astronomical reasons meaningless

When we question our lonely worth

Eclipses demand tribute

So we question all intentions

Who is real, who is true

Who is a self-invention

Wandering down aisles of life

Searching for my matching soul

Eclipses mean new beginnings

O, celestial bodies, make me whole…

Last year we had 5 planets aligned with the February full Hunger Moon. This year the 5 will appear at different times but there will be a Penumbral lunar eclipse.  Look for Venus and Mars to be visible, Jupiter visible before midnight, Saturn and Mercury visible before dawn on Feb 10, 2017 7:33 pm

LONG NIGHT MOON (December 14, 2016)

Seven days before

Winter Solstice

You will be

Overflowing, euphoric

But then, inevitably

Crescently waning

Ah, moon

Your form

More fitting if

Heart-shaped

Because

Like you

I wax and wane

As he plays his game

That goes by the name of

Cold stone love

#18 SHON (MOON)

FROM MY FIRST POETRY BOOK MADAME SOSOSTRIS EXPLAINS

IN CELEBRATION OF THE SUPER MOON:

i.

Controller of tides, planting and our lives

Be sure to mark the cycles of the moon

New to Full: blood flows, tides rise, energize!

Full to New: low-key time, altering soon.

ii.

The moonlight bathes us in mixed emotions

Both melancholy and serenity

While the turbulence of tides from oceans

Tries assailing our known identity.

iii.

Deceptively eerie shadows are cast

Lunar lessons divide the month in four

The Quarters are New and First. Full and Last

Learning phases helps you master them more.

iv.

Close the TV and go into the night

Joyously dance under moonlight so bright!

Madame Sosostris Explains: A Poetry Patchwork

LOVELY POEM BY MY FRIEND GARY SMITH

THE KILLING MOON

She shines, she gleams, this lady kind, filling lost men”s dreams
watching from her ivory tower as the winds drown out their screams
she knows her light shines on them bright, hidden in the night
she knows her mantras, knows her spells, knows their souls by sight

She grieves at this, she thieves with this, she knows by intuitions
she mourns her lost, her hidden costs, behind her dark sky smiles
she”s careful to with her witches brews, her cauldron filled with guile she”s beyond her words, her bonds, her lusts. Magic bows to style

Her druids watch, their nights long lost, for this is when she rules
when hunters hunt, and killers stalk, and timelessness is cruel
what can they do, how do they move, they must protect their queen
they stay awake when others sleep, lost in their serene dreams

The Romans came,to conquer all, they ruled their known world
their latin tounge, spoke words to none, just orders made for rule
they had no choice, cloaked druids walked, under a different moon
when once they danced, uncloaked by chance,to a different tune

Their kingdom lost, usurped by choice, they watch her from afar
this killing moon, spun by Kindly Ones, from their lives was barred
when once they danced, under her light, leaving all to chance
now they sit, so silently, and never more will they once dance

They blame her not, they know her cost, they suffer in her light
It”s neither right, it”s neither wrong,it”s just their endless plight
she shines above, she rides the winds, the stars shine in her hair
below her druid sits in the dark, his life once full, now bare.

#TBT POEM 1991 CHANNELING

(VISION FROM CLEANING THE BATHROOM WITH BLEACH & CLEANSER IN A SMALL, CLOSED UP APARTMENT 🙂  )

I have always been a woman

Coming alive in a starlit sea

Pummelling waves my only music

Salty foam decorating me

Body rocking with the tides

Hair silvery in dawn’s sunlight

Sleeping in the sandy warmth

Awaiting the moon’s kind night

FIVE PLANETS AND A FULL HUNGER MOON (Blues Song for Ukulele)

Five planets and a full Hunger Moon

Merely a meaningless magical rune

Dangling above my sorrowful head

Making me wish I was dead

Dawn breaks in a Bluesy sky

Here I am, trying not to cry

Same as a Weeping Willow, rooted below

Heart cold and lost like an icy floe

Unlike the Moon, I do not hunger for food

Need a way out of my solitude

How might I cope with your desertion?

Why would I want to continue your coercion?

Five planets and a full Hunger Moon

Merely a meaningless magical rune

Retrograde planets add to your harsh words

Mercury and Jupiter whirling backwards

Venus, Saturn and also Mars

Add strife to the male-female spars

Love has become something ephemeral

Creating an atmosphere stifling and sterile

Like a nocturnal mammal I scurry around

Shivering on the muddy ground

Not sure what to do anymore

Bright Antares and Spica I ignore

Five planets and a Full Hunger Moon

Merely a meaningless magical rune
